Alexiss, Bred by Quailhurst (Caletino x Tjinja x Kennedy)
The Oregon Dressage Society 2009 Championship Open show, held at the Devonwood Equestrian Center, was a light but very successful outing for Quailhurst. Deborah and Alexiss were winners in the USEF Four and Five Year Old Materiale class. This young mare has shown so much progress over the summer and has benefitted immensely from her showing experiences. Deborah has a lovely connection with this special young horse and it is a pleasure to see the presence they bring to the show ring.
Quailhurst’s working student Emily Anderson was the first rider of the first class of the show on Friday and it also happened to be Roderick’s first horse show ever. The pair performed a beautiful, class-winning training level test. After the final halt, Roderick’s fans burst into cheers and he answered them with an elated whinny. It appears that Roderick enjoyed his show ring debut and is also a natural at securing the “cute points!”
